Corten steel in stainless steel look will cause a certain amount of rust peeling off the surface of 0.05 mm, especially in the first few years. We therefore recommend planning the installation in such a way that this rust separation can run off in a defined manner and that no discolouration occurs in the area of the objects.
When combining wooden and corten steel seat cushions, the iron oxide adhering to the surface and the tannic acid present in the wood can cause dark grey and black discolouration of the wooden cushions. This is a natural process in this combination and does not justify a complaint. With increasing natural greying of the wood, the grey spots that appear in advance disappear and the surface colour becomes similar.
Care instructions for wood:
All wood used outdoors greys within a few months and takes on the typical silvery appearance. It is possible to oil the wood with suitable wood preservative oil so that the greying of the wood is delayed. You can find more information on this on our homepage at www.gartenmetall.de
